TRADING HOUSES HISTORY

This list covers the history of the most famous trading house during end of Meiji up to Taisho period. Of course some of these houses still exit.

There is several kinds of Trading Houses, but they have a common factor, the wares are always sold (it means marked) under the Trading House shop name:

• the house may just sale but does not produce anything, just subcontract to other kilns or,
• the house may manufacture partially or totaly the ceramics, ie: produce white pottery only and subcontract painting or buy white pottery from out side kiln and does painting or does in rare cases every thing.
