Kuroda Ryukado 1890-today
Kuroda Bunjiro 1st opened in 1884 in Kanazawa a grocery shop which sold candy
and China wares. In 1890 he got specialized in Kutani ceramics and with the help
of his 3 children developped well this business. He ordered pottery from various
painters including Oda Seizan and many famous others. He died in 1911. His 2nd
son Takichi (1885-1964) opened in 1920 his own shop and also specialized in selling
Kutani ceramics. He succeeded very well and in 1930 he started to sell Kutani
to Tokyo and Shikoku. He became the most famous dealer of Kutani and was providing
wares to most of the big shops in Tokyo. The business was very prosper until World
War II. Most of his sales were made in Japan in Tokyo and Ishikawa Prefecture.
