Kinko do 1930-today

Tokuda Shuichi the 1st is born in 1900 in Kanazawa city. He learned in 1912 pottery technic from Akakura Shozan. In 1920 he became a potter at Shimizu Bisando. He developed technic of enamel overglaze using real gold. In 1930 he built in Kanazawa a nishiki kiln and started Kinkodo. He bought white pottery and had it painted by other painters. He also bought from other potters or shops completed pottery for resale. He produced mainly Kutani ceramics and sold them to sightseeing tourists. He sold also pottery to Diana Department Store, Kanazawa Station Department Store. Tokuda Yasuhisa 2nd who is born in 1935 continued his father business. Tokuda Yasuji 3rd born in 1950 is still operating the shop today.
