Tomimoto Kenkichi 富本 蹇吉 1886-1963

Kenichi is born in Nara prefecture in 1886, he graduated from Tokyo Art School in 1909, then went to England to study pottery. Coming back he started working raku pottery with Bernard Liech.

In 1931 he works with Kitade Tojiro in his kiln. In 1955 he was selected as Living National Treasure.

His signature has changed almost every year, therefore it is not difficult to follow his production.
