“ƒŽŸ˜Y) and became the 4th generation of the Kitade family. He enter a pottery school
in Ishikawa prefecture, then moved to Kyoto to learn in a ceramic research center.
His family had moved to Kyoto. However Kitade Fujio returned to Kaga city.
In 1946 he was selected at the modern Art exhibition. In 1950 he graduated from
Kanazawa Arts University and at the same time entered Nitten Exhibition. From
1957 he started to perform research in Yamashiro area on Kutani old kilns. In
1963 he was selected at Asahi ceramic exhibition and in 1964 he received the best
prize. In 1965 he received the first prize at Nitten. In 1970 he started to teach
at Kanazawa University.
He uses Kutani original colors but his technic has modern feeling and there is
only one specialist like this not only for painting but also for his creative
style.
He tried a lot of effort to complete his father Kitade Tojiro's ceramics. He was
noticed at Nippon exhibition. He would like to developp another type of painting
different from his father. He carves the pictures first then paints using low
fire degree on a ceramic which has been fired at high temperature before. He does
not necessarily follow the old Kutani style. He uses sometimes "soda glaze" paintings.
He has succeded his father in Seissen kiln.
